Our Story

While enrolled in the University of Washington’s Applied Animal behavior certificate program, Emily Tronetti, Jenni Pfafman, and Tracy Weber met and discovered their shared passion for animal welfare, specifically helping animals in shelters and rescues, decreasing relinquishments, and supporting the humans caring for these animals.

As their ideas for a nonprofit took shape, they realized they needed help to make it a reality, and reached out to Jen Gumas, Amanda Dwyer, and Cynthia Magoon. Soon, HART became a reality.

While HART continues to evolve, its core tenets of growing a supportive community for humane trainers, rescue and sheltering organizations, animal guardians, and the animals in their care, remain the same.
