Typically, since we have a limited amount of trainers willing to donate their services free of charge, HART provides behavior support for animals currently in shelters and foster care, or for animals that have been adopted within the past 6 months. To submit a request for report for an animal adopted less than 6 months ago, click here.
HART is now piloting a program to help animals who have been adopted more than 6 months ago on a limited, case-by-case basis in hopes of reducing the number of animals returned to shelters and rescues.
Before requesting support for an animal who has been in the home longer than 6 months, please consider the following:
- Is the guardian from an underserved community?
- Is the guardian unable to financially afford hiring a professional trainer?
- Has the guardian already tried other pathways to change the behavior?
- Is the guardian motivated to work with a trainer to make the necessary changes in order to keep the animal?
If you feel that you have a case that meets one or more of these special needs criteria, please fill out the form below.

Please note that at this time, all behavior support offered through HART is virtual.
We are not currently accepting requests for support directly from animal guardians or volunteers. We ask that shelters and rescue organizations fill out and submit this form, and then HART will then reach out directly to the adopter for next steps.
